Well, the issue I describe below was NOT very serious and was NOT likely to have been related to the "new version of Perl", but, I thought it was interesting anyway.

I almost always use [Chromium (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu, running on Ubuntu 16.04 (64-bit)] when I visit the DN. When downloading a dmod on the day you got the DN up and running again, I got a warning and the browser left a file like [filename].crdownload in my Downloads directory. The .crdownload file is the name for the file while the file is being downloaded. Normally, after the download is complete, the file is renamed to the proper name, such as "bored_of_the_rings-v2_00.dmod". I could rename the .dmod file in the Downloads directory myself and use it normally. The warning message was something like "File type not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous". Of course, for me, .dmod files ARE VERY commonly downloaded.

Anyway, today that problem has simply gone away, and I had NOT updated the browser since the download problems occurred.

Life is full of surprises.
