why and how did she take a train across the ocean to new york, and why did she then decide to take an american plane of all things, back to germany?
I asked her that too. She didn't tell me though, she just called me an idiot. If I had to guess, I'd say it was probably some german custom to come by train and leave by plane. The issue is afaik there's no train from germany to the states so at some point along the way the train must have gotten on some train ferry in order to cross the ocean. Otherwise it's just far too hard to believe she came by train.
