A page/pages where everyone who wants to can write a message to cocomonkey thanking him or giving their appreciation to him might also be nice. Probably either put this in the preface or the epilogue. Or alternatively, put one or two between each chapter and at various places throughout the book.

understand your fears. I do agree that the book would need an epilogue and a preface but I'm not sure if they would require as much work as you think they would. The youtube references would be a bit tricky to do, but you could probably find a way to just remove them entirely, or just make a footnote for it and provide the footnote links at the end of each chapter. This wasn't intended to ever be a book so making it into one will have some drawbacks like that, but I still think it would make a good book.
