There's a sound near here that for a long time I couldn't figure out what it was.
It's like a horror film sound effect, a drawn out wailing or screaming of something being tortured off in the distance. Usually comes late at night and is really creepy.
We eventually found it to be the shutters closing of one of the shops at the end of the road.
