I imagine they would come out more because they know it's such a celebration and they find it to be a more appropriate time to duck around.
But really, the fact they have draining effects on any electronic, and the fact that everyone has a current of electricity running through them, I'd think it safe to assume they are composed mainly out of electricity and not some form of vague energy. Of course, I have no way of making a room 100% electricity free.
