You feed the madness, and it feeds on you. 
I'm not one for the console wars, in fact both have their merits, but there is a lot more nostalgic value connected to the Sega Genesis for me. I recently started an LP with my brother Daniel, of the Sega Genesis game 'Streets of Rage' ( Link ), I used to love playing this game co-op, because it's one of those games where you can also hit each other, and you would usually end up raging at your ally.

I also think the Sonic game's soundtracks kick Nintendo's ass. Chemical Plant Zone Sountrack FOR THE WIN. Although, I'm not saying Nintendo didn't have some awesome soundtracks as well, one of the most memorable/nostalgic soundtracks for me from the SNES is Stickerbrush Symphony from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest
