Starcraft still gets the edge for me over Warcraft II or Warcraft III, though they all have their own flavor that makes them unique so that I enjoy them all. I haven't really played many newer RTS games so I can't say if there have been any newer ones that are absolutely great. I guess the newest RTS I've played and liked a lot would be Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge and that's not exactly new.
Well Starcraft 1 is still a very good game however like I said Most of the buildings are no where near as distinctive as the the WC2 buildings
Starcraft Vanilla was very good Brood war on the only hand I didnt like as much its just Kerrigan screwing everyone over and no payoff the ending sucked still way better then SC2.
I mean just check out the qoutes and sound effects.
