Haha wow.... Thanks for bringing this up, I haven't seen that webpage in years, since before the latest tutorials were added! It taught me a lot of what I know about spriting today. Now I have read them all. 
Now, I'm going to challenge myself to make amazing graphics like those seen in the 'Demystifying the Greats' section.
