In my opinion, that's far more sensible than meeting an exponentially increasing demand by producing more and more food artificially. If having food to eat is dependant on a complicated process, I think it's just a matter of time for a crash to occur; then our descendants really will have an apocalyptic scenario on their hands, with people starving and killing each other. And eating brains.
I'd say there are too many people already, if producing food naturally is unfeasible.
