Seems to be that the best way to respond to a poll in an attempt to get on the Pollocracy, is to come up with something unique as a response (your ticked answer doesn't seem to matter towards what you select).

Giving a funny response to the basic question asked gives the best comments for me to use in Pollocracy, comments on the answers are much less useful. So, I could select 'throwing' in the current poll and comment 'picking my nose'.
And, of course, you don't have to answer the poll for Pollocracy only.
EDIT: Also, you don't always strike gold. We have an average of over 10 responses per poll, so if I select 3 you're not always going to be in...
