Predator, the idea of "God" in Islam, Judaism and Christianity is rather similar. See, being a god means that you are not typically confined by your creations. This is reflected by the titles which has been traditionally applied to God - (יהוה‎ ) YHWH, which means "the self existent one", (עֵלִי ) El means "powerful being" and is the Hebrew equivalent of Allah and possibly shares roots with the ancient deity "Baal". The theory goes that since God (whether you call it YHWH, God or Allah) created time and space, those two dimensions have no effect on God.

Ed. I just realised that Ba'al actually means "son of the powerful one" in semitic... scary thought.
