The 'Happy... um... May!' thing is a joke as well. Ever since the new design launched in February, we've had monthly thematic logos. Like in February we had little hearts for Valentine's Day, in March we had little four-leaf clovers for St. Patrick's day, and in April we had easter eggs for Easter. However, looking over the calendar, there really wasn't any good holidays in May, so the logo reverted to the default, and the caption was born.
