If you don't have an account, just leave the password field blank.
Back when I still mapped (umm, that was before WDE+, I don't even know about that editor...), I never had WDE crash on me. I occasionally used DE for modifying dink.ini, and pixel-precise placement, without having to know the coordinates, but WDE for everything else.
A feature I find missing in DE is "Quit without saving". Oh, the maps I have ruined...
EDIT: okay, that's an exaggeration. But I often couldn't resist looking at the main game's map, moving around some stuff, only to learn that change is permanent. Sure, you could kill the program using a task/process manager, but that kinda feels dirty
