Let me heat that up for you... 
If you have Windows XP, Vista or 7 you can make .zip archives in Explorer. I'm not sure how, but it can be as simple as creating a blank text file and renaming it "<filename>.zip" and then double-clicking it.

Or you could use any of the free programs out there, if you don't trust Windows...
