Yeah I agree, it is based on preference. If you like Non linear gameplay, hardcore RPG games (no hack and slash like Diablo) and games that rely heavily on the storyline like Wizardry, Might and Magic, etc. you'll like Morrowind.
If you just want to hack and slash like Diablo, then Go for NWN.
If you like both then play both, it's that simple.
