For some unknown reason, Dinkedit has quit working. I am wondering if it can be re-installed by itself without having to redo the entire Dink install?

Or should I re-install the entire Dink 1.08, and if I do will it Not Overwrite what is already in the Dink Archive?

It will only overwrite the original Dink files, develop folder and mystery island. It won't affect other dmods or files. Even when you uninstall Dink, it shouldn't delete anything besides those folders, though I'm pretty sure it deletes any files you've added to dink smallwood\dink\ develop\ or island\ folders. There's no reason you should uninstall and then reinstall though, just reinstall.

Well I tried the re-install and now here is the weird thing, it seems that several issues have now arisen that are inter-related.

If I try to play a mod using DinkArc, Dmods seem t play ok.

If I try to edit any Dmods using the button in the DinkArc, I get a "DinkEdit has quit working.." error message.

If I open DinkC, the link to "WinDinkEdit" is always gone, and I have to re-initialize the link to it.

When I try to use the WinDink Edit, I cannot open the map editor, and I get the dreaded error message again.

Now I am also getting a "DinkExe has quit working..."

I am totally stymied...

Let me heat that up for you...
clean install

that means you have to delete EVERYTHING in the dink directory (maybe wise to use uninstall first) and i mean EVERYTHING! including dmods, tutorials, everything. then reinstall dink and hope it works

Dmods have absolutely nothing to do with whether dink works correctly or not, deleting them will help jack shoot. For a clean install, renaming the folder into something else after uninstalling Dink or installing into another folder would be much smarter.

Anyway, I think he already got it to work by changing the compatibility modes.

HI guys:

I finally got it to work 95% of the time. I guess I can live with that. Dink.Exe sems to do ok on all the Dmods, as well as DinkEdit. Believe it ir or not the one I have a problem with now us DinkC.

It runs and works from a clean reboot, and as long as I keep it in a minimal window modes it continues to work. However if I exit or close the program, it will not restart, and I get a Run Time Error 5 message.

From what I can determine, this happens due to Targeting, and Start In, issues using the double slash \\ in the location address. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the & also.

Its kind of a pain in the a$$, but as long as I run it minimized I can handle it.

What is this "DinkC"? Some DinkC script editor? I cannot say I know what you're referring to when you just say "DinkC", cause that's the scripting language itself.

Easy DinkC, a script editing utility, tends to rely on certain less common runtime libraries. If you don't have them or they're already in use, Easy DinkC refuses to open because it can't use the runtime libraries it needs.

This is totally unrelated to the actual game and playing Dmods, though.

Oh, haha, we replied at the same time!

I apologize for the error.. I should have put the whole title in.. Easy DinkC v1.4 ... which yes, it is one of the editing programs. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Is there a way I can install or copy the needed libraries to my system to allieviate this problem? Any idea on which ones it may need?
