Sound
I just had this problem (see Awk!) that my dmod wouldn't load, which -I figured out myself
- had to do with sound
You see, I ripped some sound effects from Quake 1, and if I just loaded one, the game would kick me back to windows at once, if I loaded a lot, it would take a while, and if I had them in my sound directory, but not loaded them, it would load ages, and finally start the dmod.
So, my question is, what can be wrong with the sounds, and how could I use them, or others, anyway?

well i dont know much about .wav files, but i see that very short sounds can be like 100kb, and an entire song can be like 50kb, so maybe .wav files can be more complex than others, example: in the fighterz game, there some ripped off music .wav files, and when they played, it got really choppy and sometimes the game would screw up, maybe the quality has something to do with it? redink1 or WC *laugh* knows

I'm not sure, but I think that large .WAV files are a bad idea, as they don't seem to work very well in Dink.
And trav666, in regards to your review of Fighterz...do you think it would be worth finishing? With a lot of fine tuning, maybe some new characters, better levels, more difference between characters, and maybe even a high score table?
Even if I didn't do it, maybe somebody else would want to finish it...

ill finish it for you if you wont, it has a lot of potential, and it just needs to be tweaked a bit

Sure you can finish it, but I'd like to see it before release.

It's a save format thing. Some wave files contain extra data like author, copyright, title, etc. For some reason Dink looks for this unless the wav file is pretty small, so if it's not there you get a crash.
You've have to open and re-save the wavs with a different program. Something a little more profesional, probably. You can ger a free 1 month demo of "cool Edit" from:

That should do the trick.

Well, as long as the sound it's over 3 meg you should be fine. The other thing could be the format, always use 8,22050,mono settings (PCM) for dink, and make sure you add some sort of copy right info in it when saving or dink will hate it.
