The Dink Network

in the cave with the traped dragon, i have made it to the knight with the poles. I have defeated him but cant get out of the screen lock. Is this a bug or is there something about these poles i am missing?

I think you have to pick up his sword to release the screenlock. Maybe I'm thinking of something else though...

I dont recall him droping anything but a gold heart
