the fire clouds blocking the pathways in the TOA. how can i get past them?

If you mean Level 2, you'll have to hit some poles to get rid of them. The pole is always on the same screen as the fire it deactivates, but you'll usually need to follow a side path to reach it. Explore the level carefully, and good luck!

what do you use to destroy them?

Just hit the poles with anything - any magic or the crystal.

thanks, that was easy. it was shootng across the void that i wasnt getting. now im a duck that dies before he can become dink again. i get so close...and then goddam.
