Okay, the walkthough says it is easy to kill this dang beast but I can't do it. I am as powered up as canbe and I try a hit and retreat but it still gets me with its tail. I am using a keyboard not joystick if it makes a difference.

The keyboard is fine, most of us use that. One thing, just to be sure, you know it heals if you leave the screen right? It's got 35 hit points if I recall correctly, so you can estimate how close you're getting. As far as stratagy, you might try kind of a double hit and run, by which I mean Step in, Step back when it swings, Step in again, hit it and Step back. In practice it's not as simple as that but that's one thing to aim for.

Thanks, I also discovered that I don't actually have to get so close to the thing. I can stand back and my punches still count.

Ah, yeah makes a big difference. After a while you get a feel for how close you have to stand, but you're right it doesn't quite match what you see in the graphics.
