There really isn't any way to see if he's near death... just keep hitting 'im. It might take a bit.

Yes, you do. In fact, every time you leave a screen, whatever monster was on it will regain full health instantly... so don't run away

Yes, you do. In fact, every time you leave a screen, whatever monster was on it will regain full health instantly... so don't run away

Also if you take to long on the game dink selfdistructs and you have to start over.
