After getting past with the electric fence in the sewer, is there any way to turn on the lights or does it just stay like that for the rest of the game?

I am pretty sure that it's dark in the whole building because of the energy drain.

When I played the game, I drained the fence, but when it turned all dark, I loaded another game. I get uncomfortable playing in the dark...

If it's palette trick darkness you can fix it by making your monitor really bright? Not sure.
