I ahve aim, but I never use it, but if we're going to have a chat room, why don't have it in java?

Well the reason is because their are more features on AIM and since it's a special chatroom we don't have to worry un-wanted vistors. Unlike Java it's all one big chatroom. Now I'm not saying Java chat isn't bad, but really isn't what I'm looking for something like this.

We've had a few chatrooms, none seemed to work permanently (the java page, the IRC one {when I was chat staff!}, I think we might've even tried an instant-message one). I'm not familiar with AIM, is this like most moderated chatrooms, or any special features?

I prefer IRC. Or MSN otherwise, but it's not the best for group chat.

That's because IRC is better. It was designed for chat among many people, whereas AIM was designed for chat between two people.

You sure about that because I always loved chatrooms on AIM and anyway It's the only program I have an account to

Mmmm, pizza.
Best thing about IRC is that you don't need an account. You only need a program to enter chatrooms. Some browsers like Opera or Firefox have IRC-support. You might also want to check mIRC.

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
Can't you/we publicly set a date and time so anyone, even the lurkers without an account, can join as well? Take note that we've got Dinkers in all timezones so a time for the USA might not be handy for the Europeans and vice versa.

Were you thinking of using the old dink smallwood channel or a new one?

What I am planning to is make a new channel, but this is not just a channel but a EVENT, I mean a certien date and time kinda thing BUT the problem is, is that no one has send a private message yet. So all anyone has to do is private message me via my profile, In the body of the private message you send to me ask your preferred date and time, after a week or so, depending on all the messages I get, I will tally up and post a reply saying the official date and time that is ruled majority.

Why not just ask for forum posts? It's a lot easier to post a reply to this thread than it is to send a PM.

Agreed. Things like IRC are supposed to be a chat thing. For old- and newbies!

Forums are a Forum thing, also for old- and newbies.

Alright I've changed the rules again, POST your preferied time and date on here, rather then message it to me. That's a very good idea Merlin

But, why does anybody need to message you? Just check this post and see how many replies you get.
