New Talon Article 2: A Lexical Reference
This 15-or-so page document documents (ha) the power of Talon. I spent several hours of my day writing it. Be glad.
You can read it here.
Note this is not a Windemere function reference, but instead a how-to-do-this-in-Talon reference. Things included are how to code in the new style, how to use arrays and tables, how to use functions as objects, and how to create a mini-object-oriented environment (there is no specific example but if you read you'll find it).

Cool. I saved the page on my desktop so that I can look at it when I have the time to do so.
Thanks Merlin, I'll read it right away and maybe then I'll have a clear picture of how it differs from the power of DinkC.
I don't know a lot about computer science, but this *definitely* gets my seal of approval. Admittedly, the "dynamic" typing or whatever it is doesn't really appeal to me, but I suppose I can just comment variable types, if I want to be anal about it. Or name variables based on the type I want. Or whatever.
The function system looks amazing...

To tell you the truth I didn't finish the document. That was a rough draft. I didn't document a few things like metatables and and some other cool functions from other libraries. But I won't be updating it until Windemere comes out (or at least is finished).
My plan this weekend is to finish hardboxes, sprite movement, and sequencing. We'll see how that goes.
Then all that's left is the UI and the AI. After I finish those I will be drafting the committee of volunteers from this post to help create a story for the main game.
It's coming along nicely now.
One other thing: I might be starting a beta test program. I have a feeling it will last a month or two. After this program is up I'll release the engine.
