Hah, that one's easy. There are 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 dots on one, which can be written like 3 * 7 ((6+1) + (5+2) + (3+4) = 7 + 7 + 7 = 3 * 7) which is 21, and then you double that, and get 42.

The grooves around coins were originally to make them harder to counterfeit (but this was when they were still being made of pure silver).

There are 118 grooves around the edge of a dime.
