30 July - Hmmm, now that my laptop has finally been repaired (new inverters, new modem) I might get around to this...

***********************************************

Well, it's been over 3 years since I released the full version of SOB.

For a while I've had an idea of revisiting the DMOD and upgrading a few things. Given the recent errors that have popped up in the last couple of months, I don't believe the version currently on the Network is the same as the one on my computer (not surprising given the number of patches this behemoth has had).

At the moment (in what small amount of free time I have) I have started playing through the DMOD from scratch and correcting a few things. I plan to update the following:

(i) Temple of Balance graphics
(ii) Priests of Temple graphics (Cthunik will appear as he does in Pilgrim's Quest)
(iii) Revise the DMOD to take advantage of the latest version or redink.exe (ver 0.04) which means coloured blood, palette changes, etc)
(iv) Change Story 2 - though by how much, I'm not sure... it may be a complete do over.
(v) Modify Story 4 to have an alternate (happier) way of getting the fourth stone
(vi) Amend Story 5 with a bit more cast and story appearing.

Currently, I have improved the ending so that using the immunity potions shouldn't stop the game ending properly once you've defeated the end Boss, made it possible to actually kill the Goblin guarding the gate to the compound in Story 3, some hardness issues, some stuff with the Dolmen and invisibility bag being accessible without having to find Balder first (Story 4) and Cthunik graphics appearing correctly - although all of this still needs to be tested.

If there is anything that you want to suggest to be changed, let me know - if I agree, I may well do it.

I don't have any changes to suggest (all of what you mentioned sounded pretty good), but I will add that I'd be willing to help test it, if needed, whenever the time comes.

I know that's a lot to ask, but will you make a M-rated version like in PQ?

I have thought of incorporating both a hardness choice (a la Isle of Croth: Easy, Medium, Hard) and a content choice... still haven't decided. Doing an M rated version means a whole new story 6.... so I'll think about it.
