it doesn't seem to open anything.

I have wandered back and forth for ages, tried the key on the knight's wife's room and exit door to no avail.

I have walked over just about every pixel in the fort, tried blowing up the wall where it looks a slightly different colour and also looks like there is another room to the bottom.

I have bashed everything with my sword and used fireball and hellfire magic but just don't know what to try next.

Walkthrough, which I try to only use when really stuck like this says Dinker is not familiar with the mini fort quests and someone else should fill in!

Please can anyone help?

The red key opens the chasity belt, but you need another key to get into the bedroom... By memory there is a key to the cellar, a key to the kitchen and a key to the bedroom, and a key to chasity belt. The cellar has the kitchen key the Kitchen has chasity and bedroom near by... try breaking a box or two

Thanks Simon. I had actually smashed everything possible. In the end I had to resort to a previously saved game, get the boat liscense again etc. (I know... I should save more often, in more slots.)

I am positive it did not appear the first time, as I do look out for this type of thing, but this time when I smashed the crate by the laden table a gold key appeared so I have been able to move on now.
