Maybe it is just a stupid question,
but could WinDinkEdit be uploaded as a non .exe-file?
I think for me (and a few other people) It would be very helpful.

Answer please!

What do you mean with "non .exe"? It must be an executable file, and on Windows they are named .exe. Is your question to get an executable for a different platform? I don't think it works on other platforms, so that doesn't exist.

Are you asking it to be renamed to something like WinDinkEdit.file so that you can get it past some kind of download filter or something and then rename it on your windoze system?

No, I meant that I cant open those .exe iles on my PC,
because Im not using Windows.;(
And I dont know if it can uploaded as a file that
can opened by Linux or another program.
That would help alot.

The "Win" in "WinDinkEdit" stands for Windows.

FreeDinkEdit can be used on Linux. It's not as nice but it still gives you the ability to make dmods. Though you may want to wait on starting that because it probably needs a slight fix regarding map files. That's about the only other option if you can't run windows. Though I suppose you could probably message Shevek and ask about using his python editor. I believe that can run on any OS provided you have the required python files. Though, I don't remember if his editor can release things as a standard .dmod file.

I didn't know that Win stands for Windows.
And the map file problem :
Im using Brassweasels trick (He cant use WinDinkEdit too):
Download a d-mod with all squares opened, like SOB.
The squares are opened in WinDinkEdit, so the d-mod won't be big.

Yes, that is correct. But I am currently changing the interface so it works in a browser (no internet required), so it's not working currently. And I have other things to do, so at the moment it's not usable. It hopefully will be in the not too distant future though. I also plan to make all the non-browser parts available through a web interface (on the internet), so you don't even need to install Python.

It can. It uses its own format for editing the game, but it can write out .dmod files. It cannot read them, though. I have written a converter to turn dmods into my format, but it loses a lot of information (in particular, hardness and scripts). It's still nice for importing maps.
