Re: A wild contribution appears!
I've recently started playing around with midi-maker Anvil Studio and have pretty much begun learning how to make music by ear.
As such, I have made this: Forest
This .midi file is a sixteen second theme for forested areas.
Mainly, I just want you guys to take a listen, see if you like it, and offer creative advice if you see fit to.

That'd be nice for a peaceful forest area, but only a small one. I think the short loop would bother me after a while.
Yeah. I'll definitely make more varied and nuanced themes when I get the hang of it.
It sounds really good as the intro, build-up section of a song, but it needs more than that. The melody is good, so I think this could work as the underlying melody in a longer song, too, rather than just this short piece; repeat that melody for a minute or two, and just keep adding stuff on top of it.
In my experience, though, that's the trickiest part of making music - getting a song up to a respectable length, without becoming repetitive, without using TOO many instruments, and without changing into a completely different song halfway through.

Using the first as a base, I extended it and added some instruments. Forest(New)
