Writing
I like to write stories and I guess you all know that by now, huh. Well, I have a story called "Rabbit" included in an anthology that's just been released and would love it if any of you, my dear Dinky pals, found the time to check it out. It's only an eBook at this point, but moar sales means moar formats.

If it sells 1,000,000 copies I promise I'll make another d-mod!

This is a generic writing thread, by the way. I know we have a few budding writers on here and it's always interesting to read about progress.
If only Draconic Dink was still around!

I've written some things. Some people said I should try to publish some of the poems I've written. One being an actual poetry teacher. But I've just never felt like it. I've written a few short stories and some allegories. I just like poetry more because of the freedom it gives me. I haven't written anything in a while though.
Congratulations on being a published author.

I've actually written a pretty crappy short novel loosely based on Half-Life 2, it's like 64 pages or so. I also started on a fan fiction for Mass Effect which I have a lot of ideas for but haven't worked on for many months. I don't plan on ever publishing anything because writing is definitely not one of my strengths.
I have SOOOO many stories I've written, and currently I've got a book on Wattpad (in progress) for people to read. (Look me up, my username is Diretooth.)
One of my friends wrote a story which he finished today, and from what I understand he's getting it published. Lucky dink.
If only I had the money or kindle, and leprochaun I have two question, can you teach me poetry and are any of your poems about leprochauns at all?
also who was Draconic Dink and what happened?

Dack, I suggest reading a lot of poetry to learn how it's done. Then, you try it out, and if you utterly suck, then you can move on to other formats of literature.
To clarify, in case anyone takes that in the wrong way, you decide if it's good or if it's bad. Whether or not you submit it to the rest of the world is up to you. I mainly write for the enjoyment of it, and have yet to publish anything except a poem I wrote for class. (It was a poem that illustrated onomatopoeia, even though it sucked.)
Here's a poem I wrote while listening to inspiring music.
The notes fly through the air,
like birdsong on the breeze,
singing like forgotten memories
in the subtle orchestra of life.
See in your mind the gentle lullaby that
soothes against the nightmares of the past,
feel with your heart the breath which
brings into dreams a gentle peace.
Feel in your heart, the beat that
flows through the world in careful ways,
like the life essence of a world that
sings to stave off the hells of the mind.
Hear the emotions of the unnoticed,
their breath and body weaving sound
that speaks of untold journeys and
shouts to the world, "I am here."
The notes fly through the skies,
their song reflection the dreams
that all men share in hopes
that they will soon be heard.

I normally hate poetry. A lot. Especially this kind. But you did well, Kris, since it's not 'you're mortal and die and curl into a ball and be depressed' neither is it 'I feel like a high pastrami on rye on the fly from the deli in the sky.'
I've written a poem too.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Had a huge breakfast that morning

Grats Sabre! Huge accomplishment and a big step forward
Unfortunately it says "This title is not currently available for purchase" so I doubt you will receive feedback for now :/
I myself never touch ebooks, reading from a screen just turns me off for some reason. But if it's anything like the previous work you've let us sample here I'm sure it's quality material

I could probably teach you about poetry, Dack. However I won't because I don't have the time or the patience to do so. And no, I have not written any poems about leprechauns.
Cheers Kyle.
Yeah, a quick glance and it looks like it's only available in the UK right now. A shame. Reviews have been pleasant enough so far, though I don't know how legit they all are.
For those who don't know, Draconic Dink was a wonderfully argumentative member who constantly referred to metaphors and moral tales from his ever expanding series of novels. He was fantastic.

@leprochaun, if you ever get the time then pm me.
@sabre, so he was an author, published?

Not published, no.
There are a few quotes by him that sometimes pop up at the bottom of the page...
"I'm sick of everyone here being either ignorant by ignoring my repeatedly saying so, or saying otherwise, hence acting as if they think they know me better than me (which is impossible)." - DraconicDink

what happened to him and the only kind of "poetry" I know is the rhyming kind
It's easier to write in iambic pentameter than it is to rhyme and stay coherent.
Then there are those which
are written in haiku form
and rarely make sense.
There are many types of poetry, I suggest googling different forms of poetry to learn how they go.

I'm not sure if anybody here has been around long enough to remember me, but I've written some things.
The Metacollector, an original story
It's about a collector who collects pieces of others' collections.
And oh no, fan fiction!
One story I wrote a long time ago continues to get over a thousand hits a month; I've got no explanation for it.

Woo! Someone except me actually writes fan fiction.
Except I've barely written any of my fan fiction. Currently it has 3 complete chapters and a third of chapter four. The only reason I started writing it was because I'm obsessed with Mass Effect and sci-fi. Will my writing be good? No. But I do it anyway. Something else I really need to get back into doing. I'd love to see me finish another story.
is there any smoochy smoochy in the fan fic. Also wasen't a haiku a poem that goes like
first:5 syllables
Second:7 syllables
Last:5 syllables
first:5 syllables
Second:7 syllables
Last:5 syllables
Yes, it goes that way.
Five sounds, seven sounds, five sounds,
refrigerator.
Also, I was thinking of writing a fan fiction based on the Bloodmoon expansion of Morrowind, specifically a glitch that occurs.

I think that is skyrim and what is the glitch, what other types of poetry are there?
Also what happened to DD/draconic Dink

You're thinking of Dragonborn, the DLC that takes you back to Solstheim after the eruption of Red Mountain.
ok, and the glitch is and what happened to Draconic
he lives in my basement where he will never be allowed to see the light of day again ... so sad really
do you feed him wet dog food or dry bonca food?
Don't worry, I rigged up a cat food dispenser.
and you put cat food in it right and if so how much and how long was he down there and what has he been doing? Still what really happened to him?
That's for me to know, and you to dig around and find out.
To be specific, the answer lies in a valley betwixt two hills. It begins with a 'B' and ends with two 'T's.

haha, just after reading your post SabreTrout, this appeared on another one.
"You can only get a quote up by saying stuff that makes you sound slightly schizophrenic. Or severely schizophrenice. It doesn't really matter, as long as you talk to yourself and don't sleep for days on end." - Sabretrout
@KrisKnox..your second line had 8 syllables or 'sounds'..suggest omit 'and'

I wasn't writing a haiku that time.
Oh it was so close I thought you were.
I thought it was a good combination of explanation and haiku form. no matter.
