The Dink Network

It's a race between Random431(Robj) and Exdeathevn to see who is the speediest Dink Smallwood player!
This was conducted via a skype call, and then we each played the game and recorded at the same time, so we couldn't see each other's screen. This allowed for some awesome trolling, which can only be seen by watching these as they come.
Who will win? Who will get the most achievements?

Ground rules:
- Do not need to complete anything optional, or collect any optional items, but can do if desired.
- First to beat Seth and return to the King wins.

This is very enjoyable, although I do think some of the "achievements" are a bit silly, especially the ones both players will get automatically anyway.

@Skull: Some of the achievements are generic landmark ones you'd get if this was an Xbox 360 game, others are first-to's or silly milestones.

@Synbi: The funny thing is, this ended up being somewhat slow for a speedrun (at least compared to your link there, lol). It's more just a race to see who could beat the game faster.

@Quiztis: Windemere is un-skipable, it's part of the main story variable? We go through all of the main, and a few secondary quests throughout the race.

@Leprochaun: You'll have to wait and see, there's a lot of... trolling. The question you should be asking, is how long it takes for the opponent to get herb boots after the first person does?

You can see the shortcut I found at 0:40 in this video. There were loads of hardness bugs actually, it ended up being hard to choose which ones to abuse. Also watching this video again I can't help but laugh at my epic battle with Seth...

Random question, should there be a challenger to take on the winner?
Loser gets to pick a Dmod, and the winner has to race through it with another DSPT Staff member, how does that sound?

Races are something that DSPT will continue doing as well. We will take challenges from other dinkers as well. The only requirement is you need to have a skype account, and you need to be able to record your screen, while playing dink, and chatting on skype with minimal lag (if any). We don't want to be uploading extremely laggy videos to our channel.

I didn't, just Rob. That was one of the things I trolled him about in Part 3 or 4, making him think it was necessary.
It certainly bought me plenty of time to just grind for cash/levels.

Makes me wanna play through the game again.

Well, I don't exactly have skype, or any means to record whatever I'd be doing.

Downloading a screen-recording program isn't very hard.

Also, you don't necessarily need skype, just a means to voice chat with another person. You could do it though gmail if needed. I'm sure most people have a gmail account, and if they don't- making one isn't very hard.

Even so, I don't really have a mic.

Hardware problems are much more difficult to solve. That is, if you're not willing to buy the part you need.

Yeah, I kinda agree. They really don't need to do everything they're doing to win the game. I recently speedran though the game in 45 minutes. Oh well, the way they play it just makes the race more exciting!

At this point, the extra grinding/exploring was to get a bit of an increased magic boost for faster cooldown; My most powerful weapon is Hellfire.
Robj was grinding from what I can tell (for Lightsword/Hellfire).
The screwing around ends pretty soon as well, don't worry about that. As to who wins, well... Patience.

That was cool, and totally unexpected I may say.

I remember Seth being pretty hard to beat, but you both didn't seem to have any trouble at all with him. Then again, you both spend lots of time leveling up while waiting for each other to catch up with you, so you probably had a higher level than I did back then.

Good job guys! I actually knew who was going to win before you even started uploading the parts, but it was still enjoyable to watch. What an ironic victory! The Troll got some of his own medicine, and what was coming to him all along! xD It was fun. Reminded me of watching the original Dink LP from DSPT!

Shevek: Seth is actually pretty easy. You can beat him rather easily at level 4 with herb boots. But yeah, I remember when I first fought him. Couldn't beat him for like weeks!

I actually have a mic now, plus OBS Studio and the Discord chat client. I don't think it would be too difficult setting up a voice chat with you through that, because Skype doesn't work well for me.
Though, I'd have to figure out how to keep your voice muted so there isn't a weird overlay effect while still being able to hear you.
