Second Chances
WooHoo! I just got elected to the SRC (Student Representitive Council) as treasurer today. This got me thinking about my past...
When I was in the smaller grades I had no friends. Nay, I had one, but she moved away in grade 4... Hardly talked since.. Well, since I live in the middle of nowhere, not even close to town, I talked to no one. My social skills were idiotic. And having an slow yet explosive temper didn't really help either. They kept on trying to get a 'rise' outa me. That made life hell. It got so bad, there were times when I wanted to kill myself. No joke. But I wasn't brave enough to do it, and for that I am thankful. But then in Grade 7, an exchange student came, and became my friend. That was one of the happiest times of my life to that date. When he left the following year, I was hit hard by the loss of yet another friend. I decided I didn't want to live the life I had been living to that date, and tried to make peace and friends.
That failed. People just don't accept change like that, that quick. Yet, over the past three years, and expecially the last, people started to be friendly. Usually they just wanted something, but over time they actually became friends. And since then, things have clicked.
In fact, they changed so much, I actually think that people would care if I was missing for a couple of days and phone. True, that still might be garbage to you, but its the best life has ever gotten for me.
Now how did I get on the SRC?
I didn't campaign at all like the rest of them. I just made a small speach, using my past.
Prev. SRC prez: "Chris Pikula"
//a loud applause
//I'm sorta surprized, and for some reason my aprehension about my speach is gone.
"Hello. For thouse of you that don't know me, I'm Chris Pikula.."
//more applause, I smirk inwardly
".. but I'm sure you've all heard the stories. Well, all I ask is that you think carefully about who you vote in today, and I tell you, If I'm voted in, things will," I slam my fist on the podium," happen!"
//I sit down, and think that I might have a chance, but don't think so, there were three other sorta popular people, and also the person who was 'awsome' to others in grade 5. He's not that way now.
Today, we voted, and at 13:30, the results came in: I got the position. I had crushed the opposition. I was playing kizer at the time. I was sorta shocked, but mostly happy. No one was angry that they lost, they were all good sports.
And thats my story.

Sounds familier too. Growing up is awkward, and it's not about who you are with ,but who you become. Nice.
