Should you have enough money to buy the berb boots before you cross the bridge and pay the toll?

You can easily finish the game without the boots, but they are good for avoiding possessed enemies in the Darklands. All they do is make you a bit faster, but you can only punch while wearing them.

No, but don't worry, you only have to pay the toll once. When you get the money for the boots you can come back any time.

Personally, I found the boots to be more useful than most early weapons. Sure you can only punch while using them, but in a fight I found double running speed infinitely more useful than the 3 extra attack points you get from a longsword. I kept the boots on until I got a clawsword. 
The boots are very useful for getting places faster then normal and I highly suggest them as they make the game run a little faster.
Kerb Boots is really good weapon. You can then attack really fast.
Herb boots is on someslike in somwhere shop. Go first place and then go away and go ringth, and think more.

haha thats just easy cause i almost got as far with herb boots to kill seth with them i ended the game rather high level cause i kinda got stock at the goblin village and kept killing monsters (about 2 weeks 2 hours a day) haha and for dodging the possesed monsters in darklands they should be easy to just kil with the claw sword when you get there (i played the normal game like 8 times)

you won't be able to make money before you use the toll gate once you have enought money buy em! they are exelent i completed the game with only the boots and a few potions

Herb Boots. Aside from Flamebow, I do consider this to be the one of the best items in the game. I can kill Dragons like they're nothing with 32 strength. You do around the damage of your strength and attack at least twice as fast. Couldn't kill Seth with em though, had to use lightsword
