New font
I'm using a new font in my D-Mod which is probably not available on all computers. Is there any easy way to distribute the font so that everyone who downloads the D-Mod can use the font?
Pack it in with the dmod file? zip those puppies up together.
But the font file has to be in the Windows/fonts folder I believe... or does double click on the file suffice?
You can unzip it - click the dmod to install it and put the font in the windows dir - instructions included
it works cauz I do that heaps - I like fonts

Sorry, I'm a noob when it comes to stuff like this, but do you mean the user has to put the font in the windows dir manually or do you have a way to do it automatically (via the .dmod file)?
The user can put it in their windows\font folder (i am techky challanged and can do that all by myself so its not too hard)
zip the two files
upload to TDN
wait a while till staff need a break from life
(yay its accepted)
instructions
unzip
double click dmod.file to install dmod
cut or copy font
open windows\font folder
paste font
play dmod
enjoy awesome new font! yay Christiaan
I dunno how you can add to font folder automatically - maybe ask symian to write you a batch file to do that!

Right-o
I just hope people won't ignore the instructions and wonder why there is no text.

Actually that won't be a problem. I used a different font somewhere in Day of the Carcass knowing that some people wouldn't have the font. If people don't have the font it will display the text in the normal font instead of the new one. If your font is just a pretty one and not essential for the player to see, you can just use it and the lucky players who have the font will be able to see it.

haha that would be funny
I am sure there will be a way to auto install it - but we all use so many different Operating Systems so... depends on where the fonts are kept on other os's I suppose as to whether you can have it auto installing - it may send it somewhere to never be seen again.

And Erwin is right - it will still have text, just the usual one not your sweet fancy one, by zipping them up they will see there is a font with the dmod and have the option to use it or not.
What is up with rare people like Christiaan, Erwin and RedInk showing all always at the same time, when they rarely do?
Great minds think alike.
Seriously though, I'm here all the time but I don't see a reason to post something very often. I'm mostly just interested in development and like to talk about new things or help people if there's nobody else around to help them.

Well, we don't think alike. That's the only problem. Otherwise we would be the perfect example.
We'll at least the 'not so great' part fits. That's something.
Depending on the font's file type (there seems to be different font-files or something to that effect) you may be able to double-click to install it on a Windows computer. At any rate, for the player to see the font it would -have- to be installed to the Windows/Fonts directory, I believe. Either by copy-pasting, or double-clicking.
