How do you know the frequency of a sound that is not an original dink sound?
I use GoldWave to do that, it has a frequency adjustment button which displays the original frequency.

99% of them are 44.1khz. Your common media player program should tell you when you play it anyway.
So, where can I see that in Windows Media player or iTunes?
You can get Audacity too, it's a free sound editor. I wouldn't really say it's the best audio program out there though, but it's easy to install and use.
Using Windows? Right click -> Properties -> Summary tab.
