the path to the cave is hidden by a tree. and i'm not telling where that you'll have to figure out your self.

I'm totally stuck too. I'm in the second town and the mayor says the bridge will be fixed soon, but I don't know what to do now. I've seen that glowing bonca a bunch of times, but he's WAY too strong to kill. Since even using the cheat to boost my stats didn't help, I'm guessing that either I'm not SUPPOSED to kill him or I need a special weapon. I've looked everywhere but I can't find a clue on this. Any help would be appreciated.

You do need a much stronger weapon, but you are not able to get it yet. The storyline has nothing to do with this Bonca. Try to talk to the mayor and ask about their problem.
