So, anyone here particularly into their fighting games?

I've taken to Street Fighter 4 in a big way since it came out (Chun-Li is my girl), and finally ventured to the arcade scene at the weekend. It was brilliant.

Goodge St. Casino in London was the venue. The bottom floor of that place was heaven for a fighting game fan. There were cabinets for SF4, SF3, SF2, Tekken 6, BlazBlue, King of Fighters XII and many, many more.

The atmosphere is a world away from simply playing on your home console. The pressure is really on to give good account of yourself and you need to be on your game. These arcade players really know what they're doing, and are more than happy to school you if you make sloppy mistakes.

So... anyone else into that kinda thang?

Tekken 4 is a great game, so are alot of the Mortal Kombat games. Dead or Alive 4 is the worst you can possibly find.

I LOVE Street Fighter. I kill fast, I die fast. I played lots of Street Fighter III using an emulator on my PC (didn't play much against humans though ) and tried the PC version of Street Fighter 4 a bit (didn't buy it yet). I think I'll buy Super Street Fighter 4 for the PC when it comes out and get me a decent gamepad while I'm at it.

So yeah... I'm into that kinda thing I guess but I just don't have the time to get really good at it (unless I quit D-Modding).

I'm a Super Smash Bros. fan, but I don't particularly like traditional fighting games.

I luv Super Smash Bros also. I think I'm pretty good with Luigi in Brawl. Got Street Fighter 4 and my favorite there is old man Gen. Hm, I've never been on a big game arcade, but if I was it would've been awesome.

I was really big into the SF2 when I was little... stopped playing fighting games for a while till I started messing around with emulators and started playing Neo Geo and got into SNK's games. While I know they're generally inferior to what Capcom was making, they're still a lot of fun. Samurai Shodown 2 is still one of my favorite 2d fighters of all time (it plays so differently from anything else, really)... and King of Fighters XI was awesome, but I heard that XII sucked.

Tekken 4 sucks balls! THere are MANY parts that are incomplete. 3 is better beacuse of one thing...Tekken Ball MODE!

Anyway i've played many fighting games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat 3, King of Fighters series, Last Blade, Melty Blood, Capcom vs SNK, Marvel vs, Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury(Also Real Bout), Garou Mark of the Wolves, Guilty Gear, Breakers series etc.

Well beacuse there's no Mai...They always say something like this "No Mai. NO BUY!" and also the network is horrible due to the coding. No matter in what country is the server it will lag as hell and also MOST newbies will say that there is no story but...IT'S A DREAMMATCH! There is no story.

Currently playing Tekken 6 (bought a new TV with HD quality to "play" it right, lol). It's a really nice fighting game, in my opinion.

I fail to see what correlation there is between "newbies" and people moaning about the lack of story. Ive never come across anyone who gives a dang about a fighting games plot, or lack thereof.

I'm tempted to pick up KOF12, but I hear the netcode is awful, the character roster is small for a KOF game, that the mechanics are dated... etc. Still, Blazblue should be out in the UK soon. I am ALL OVER THAT.

Never really played the Tekken games myself. The early iterations rewarded button bashing a bit too much and I've never got past that. Of cours quality play will always beat button-bashing but, y'know, I'm not a fan.

Garou is good. I picked that up on XBLA, but haven't really given it any time.

Goku, Tekken 4 is the only tekken game i've played so far. So of course my view of that game is a bit short-sighted. Besides, there is nothing better than an old game. (I played Death by Degrees, where Nina from Tekken goes on some sort of mission. The plot is interesting enough, but it's made like Alone in the Dark where you have to go here and then there to acheive the objective. The fighting controls are using the right analog stick in any direction to kick. i don't like it so much.)

Tekken 4 is the best game in the Tekken series. I liked Street Fighter 3 a lot! And my favourite character in Ominusha Blade Warriors for PS2 is Zero. Me and elder my brother play

I don't like fighting games that much because they don't have good storylines usually and all that kind of stuff. I haven't actually played that many fighting games ever.
I'd probably say that the original Battle Arena game was pretty good.

The stories in the Tekken series are good enough, imo. It's a fighting game, you pick your character and fight other characters... It doesn't need a story really. See it as a tournament.

The only fighting game I can think of that has a good storyline is Dragon Ball Z: Sagas. But you can get the storyline from the anime.

If you're bored, you can now watch me kick some ass with Chun-Li. No real BnB combos or anything, but delightful spacing and Ultra execution saves the day.

Wow, your TV is SO awesome! I wish I had a TV like that lol.
I only have a TV from like 70's and it doesn't even have a remote. *sigh*

Well you could save some money like me. I've saved a LOT of it to get my own TV in HD Ready

I was playing at a friends house. It's an awesome telly though - And as a bonus has small plastic SF2 characters lined up across the top. Just lovely.

My TV is fine though. But I just wish it would be a little more wider and that I would actually have a remote!!

And now we can all start crying cause we don't have such an awesome telly lol.

I used to have a quite old TV too, but recently when I bought my PS3, I decided to buy a new TV also so I would be able to play with HD quality.

I've never liked fighting games (except for the Super Smash games of course!)...

I recommend that anyone vaguely interested in the fighting game scene watches I Got Next, a free documentary concerning fighting games, which follows some leading names (Gootecks, Justin Wong) around the SF circuit. It's about 45 minutes long but there will be a feature length revision being released in the next few months.

It makes surprisingly good viewing.

I liked to see you fight (play) sabre. It makes me want to play again.

The documentary was interesting but I was hoping to see more of the game. 45 minutes long and all they show are a couple of ultras? That's evil!

Atleast now I know what Justin looks like though watching him win doesn't really help when I try to immagine what his face must have looked like when he lost here.

Heh, that's an absolute classic. Probably, for me, the greatest display of skill in competitive gaming history.

If you want to see one where Justin would have come out smiling, I'd recommend this - Never give up. Utterly brilliant. If possible, watch this with the sound on just to hear the commentator. He's hilarious.

Super Street Fighter 4 is amazing, and I've managed to get a copy a full week ahead of release. It's got loads of online modes that, really, should have come with the original, a ton of new characters, and an extra dusting of awesome.

Just wait till MvC 3 will be released(and KOF XIII)

KOF = Meh.

MvC3 = Awesome... but not at awesome as SF. Far too mental for my liking.

CvS3 = Dreamland.

Yes, as someone who has been a big fan of KOF prior to XII, I too have to say "Meh".
