Re: Should I buy Playstation 3? (Closed)
Well, I'm planning on buying Playstation 3. Is it worth ~400$? What games should I also buy in case I get PS3?
It's a slim version, 120GB.
Advices appreciated (need them fast).

I wanted some opinions/advices about the consol, if it's worth the money. I already know it's up to me.
Edit: thanks for the advices MsDink.

What kind of games do you like?
Multiplatform games are almost always better on the 360, and the Wii offers unique games not found on the HD consoles. But if you really love the PS3 exclusives, go for it!

Wii is for maximum entertainment, great console.
PS3 is for maximum entertainment and graphics but is expensive, I haven't got one but I want one.
XBOX360 is lacking everything if you ask me.
Can you play PS2 games on the PS3 Slim? If not, then you should reconsider buying PS3 Fat, cuz PS2 games sell pretty well still.

In Sweden and Finland there is no PS3 that can play PS2 games, for sale.
Ah, it has to be the NTSC console then.

Bayonetta

Bayonetta is much better on Xbox 360. Sega did the port to the PS3 and botched it somewhat; it's not disastrous, but the 360 version is far superior.
If you want the full Bayonetta experience, you should get an Xbox.
If you want the full Bayonetta experience, you should get an Xbox.
Yeah, but Bayonetta sucks.
Get a Wii instead.
Yeah, go for the Wii!

Let's see...
If you want to have some fun with your friends and you don't care about the graphics take Wii.
If you want a cheap console with more games than PS3(I do not include PS2 and PS1) and many games to download get X-Box 360(PREMIUM of course)
If you want a console with awsm graphics and compatible with PS2 and 1 games get PS3 FAT.
If you don't want these consoles get PS2.

Bought PS3, extra controls plus some games.
Get MAG when it comes out within a couple weeks, assuming it's released in europe at that time. I tried the public beta and I highly recommend it.
Here's the site if you're interested.

Bayonetta

Did you buy Bayonetta? It's possibly the best action game this generation.
Skull obviously hasn't played it.
Skull obviously hasn't played it.
Go talk about Bayonetta to some other forum full of people who love crappy games.
hey marpro, im coming to your place to play your spanking new ps3! i admit, i did want an xbox 360 but only to play halo.
what is bayonetta?
what is bayonetta?
Uncharted 2 is probably worth getting. It's unabashedly cliche (in a good way), but a fun game. I wish I could remember more of the PS3 exclusives that were absolutely worth getting.
I second that recommendation, Uncharted 2 is one of the best games I have ever played (I've played a lot of the best) and it's mutliplayer is awesome. It's just insane and well worth the money.
Bayonetta is the pinnacle of the hack 'n' slash genre, Skull, and one of the finest games in years. I'd also recommend Uncharted 2, Little Big Planet and Demon's Souls. I've heard the Pixeljunk games are pretty handy too.
The Last Guardian is one to look out for when it's released. Not sure when that will be, mind.

Marvel vs Capcom 2
Grrr. I hate hyped things like iPhones, Twightlight and Lady Gaga

I disagree. Any game that is created these days is a piece of crap.

You're just a pessimist, we didn't have Uncharted 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or any of that awesome stuff back in the day.

Ok, Skull. Let's do this.
Which part do you disagree with?
Your second statement is, frankly, ludicrous, and for that reason I'm going to leave it well alone.

Game makers nowadays care more about fancy graphics than a good storyline and gameplay. While back in the days, games were actually FUN to play, and you would like to play the again over and over, nowadays it's just "Oh, that game looks decent" and then you eventually force yourself playing it through, put the game away and never see it again.
And now that I answered, you are probably gonna close this thread, because that's what the staff does all the time nowadays, without any real reason.

On a side note about closing threads Sabre, would you mind next time changing the Topic's title to add (CLOSED) next time you decide to close a topic?
EDIT: *points to Bayonetta's thread*
In some ways, Skull, I agree with you. Plenty of modern games lack story and focus more on actual gameplay and graphics or sound effects. Storyline makes many games into the epicness that is a famous game, but some games that lack storyline still have a good enough gaming system for that genre to be worth playing.
Sure, many examples have Online capability and players focus on that more, but hey. Most people nowadays play online games anyway, and who wants to run through a building shooting noobs only to have to pause to watch a dang cutscene in the middle of a clan battle?
Each to his/her own opinion, really. But this topic isn't fail

Name one thread that was closed "without any real reason" and I'll show you why it was closed. Just because we don't publicly justify everything we do doesn't mean there isn't a reason behind it.
Also, I think you're looking at game development through rose tinted glasses. Did Mario have a good story? Or Sonic? How about you come up with some examples, hmm?
I'm going to assume you don't actually own a console, otherwise you wouldn't make such ill-educated statements about the modern day game quality.
EDIT: Sure, ExDeath. I'll do that in future.

"Bayonetta lol" was the name of the thread you closed for absolutely no reason. Thanks Striker for opening it again.
I DO own a console. Have owned quite many in my life actually. Mario did not have a good storyline, but it had an interesting gameplay, and Sonic is one of those few bad games from the past.
I have already given you examples, but I can name you quite a few others. The recent GTA games (after San Andreas), Halo (most overrated piece of crap), most of the new FPS games are total chaos, and so on and so on...
What happened to the classics like Wild ARMs and Oddworld, and quite frankly, like Dink Smallwood. The big difference to old games is that new games lack in humour VERY much compared to older games.

To quote the Dude: "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."
/Seriously don't feel like wasting my time with Skull's sorry arguments

Actually, there were perfectly valid reasons I closed that thread. Whether you think they are valid or not means very little.
For some rather obvious reasons I'm not going to waste my time arguing about whether Halo has deeper gameplay than Dink Smallwood.

Using your experience on TDN is a very pathetic reason to put my opinions down, Sabre. And in fact, Dink Smallwood HAS deeper gameplay than Halo, better storyline than Halo, better humour than Halo, and Halo is just one of those games Dink Smallwood crashes easily. Not to even talk about better games than Dink.
Now just shut up and agree with me.
Now just shut up and agree with me.

Where do I use my "experience on TDN" to put your opinions down, Skull?
Whether *you* think they are valid or not means very little.
That's where. Only because you have the power to lock threads doesn't mean you can do that whenever you want to. And when I say you closed it for no reason at all, you start attacking me for that.
And saying whether *I* think they are valid or not sounds very much like you think you are better than I am, and only reason I could think you think that, is because you've been here longer than I have.

Heh, in the past games also often had only a very shallow storyline, if any. It's just that you remember the great ones, not the average ones.
The truth is that many franchises that are owned by large companies are becoming a bit similar sometimes. *cough*EA sports*cough* But there are many modern games that are interesting and that have kept me interested.
Also, with new internet payment systems the indie game scene is booming. If you can't find what you're looking for in mainstream games why not try your luck at indie games?

Sabre is on staff, and that gives him real ultimate power.

Amen.
Didn't we just have this same discussion a few months ago, only with about 100% less hostility on all sides?

Haha, if there only would be smart people on this network, they'd agree with me. Yes, take this as an insult because I mean it as one.
Stop it, Skull.
I mean it.
I mean it.
What? You expect me to crap my pants because you mean it? If you mean it, then ban me. I really don't care.
This is not a wise road to go down, Skull.
I really don't see why you've decided to become so antagonistic? It's wholly unnecessary. Your opinion on what threads get locked and what threads don't isn't particularly important. Not because your opinion isn't as valid as anyone elses, but because you're not a staff member on this website.

I win, you fail. Simple as that.
Haha.
I'm locking this thread for obvious reasons.
Apologies to Marpro. Feel free to start a new thread about your spangly new PS3.
