Adventures of Dink Bigwood (The) - By dinkdragon
Grade E Standard
-----
Introduction: This DMOD author has, to date, released 2 files, and this was his attempt at his first. As with many first-time DMODs the game is not perfect, but I do recommend downloading it providing you have some spare time on your hands to kill.
Storyline: As a first DMOD, the storyline was not expected to be of epic proportions. However it was not entirely a let-down, and had the basics and potential to be develop into a much more entertaining storyline. Dink initially has to save Johnny, and 10 minutes into the game finishes by killing him. (6)
Gameplay: The gameplay isn't actually a let-down, although I do believe that many of the monsters encountered early into the MOD are far too hard for the average Dinker, and moreso to the less-experienced of the Network. There are the occasional glitches and hardness errors, but a suprisingly low ammount for such an author. (6)
Graphics: No graphics were designed specificially for this DMOD, besides the title screen, but it does utilize some custom tiles and graphics downloadable from the Network, which is always nice to see. This simple implementation presents a much fresher appearance to the MOD, a hint to other beginning authors. (4)
Audio: There was actually music playing constantly in the DMOD, most of these fitting the situation which was nice to hear. Many known songs were playing in .midi form, although no new .wav files were to be found. I remember one had a slightly longer loading time than the others, however. (5)
Conclusion: A good attempt at a first DMOD, and worth a download if you want the bog-standard DMOD. If the plot were developed, this could have shaped up to be a much more diverse and enjoyable DMOD, but stands fairly fun as it is.
