Texsynth..

I used to think this program was good. But after using other tools, i have decided to modify this reveiw, to tell the truer story

The main problems are:
-> Texsynth is slow. I don't want to have to wait 1/2 an hour just to get a tilable texture.
-> lack of features. Texsynth only tiles textures, whereas other tools out there have the ability to "remove features" in a texture, using the material on either side of the feature to fill in the gaps. Other apps can remove luminence gradients in images, and a whole lot more

Personally, i don't care if texsynth can do this process 7 different ways, what i want is something fast, and with more features.

For the above reasons, i give this program a 3.2...sorry, but that's it. If you want a quality app, download "resynthesizer" and "homogoniser" for the GIMP. they take about 5 seconds to do a 256X256 pixel texture, and it has a lot more features. best of all, it's cross platform, and open source

keep it real
this program takes an image and transfers it into a "seemless tile." what this is is a tile that can be placed next to others of the same type so that they look smooth together and dont show big honkin' lines of contrast. an example of this is, for instance, the grass tiles in dink that you want to be able to stamp over and over so that they look like one big area. the problem with this program is that the picture you want to transform into a seemless tile often looks nothing like the original... not only this, but it takes totally too long to load to just come out like crap anyway. this program did nothing but dissapoint me - but i do see it being helpful if you have a whole lot of patience and are up for some trial and error, and believe me, you will have quite a few errors when experimenting with this program.

This is a tile maker that is realy slow and when i say realy slow then i am mean very slow. this program takes an image and tranfers it to a tile that you can use in your D-Mods, but it doesnt create good tiles. and it teakes 1 hour to transfer 1 image into a tile. So it is just a waste of time to download this utility.

This little program is meant to help you generate tileable textures. But it takes way too long. I had two attempts. The first with a complex texture the second with a abstract version of potato skin. Both images were taking over 1/2 hour to do. It is faster to use the offset filter in Photoshop, or the equivalent in the Gimp (PSP 4 doesn't have offset filter and it's tileable function is pretty naft, but all you do is select the entire image, cut it out and paste it back in as 4 corners in reverse. ie bottom right corner/quarter moves to top left; bottom left corner/quarter to top right, etc. then use the clone brush to remove the lines. Repeat until seamless - takes maybe 10 minutes)

Overall Don't bother 1 out of 10
