New Download Category: Source Projects
Posted by redink1 on Tuesday September 2nd, at 07:42 PM
A new category of wonder has been added to the Downloads section of The Dink Network: Source Projects. Quite inexplicably, I've decided to put downloads related to the Dink Source Code here.

Please note: only projects that will be further developed, or include big features (such as 32-bit color/windowed mode) will be added. If you want to release a new dink.exe with just a new DinkC command added, we won't accept it.

New D-Mod: Bloop the Fish 2
Posted by redink1 on Tuesday September 2nd, at 08:11 PM
An anonymous D-Mod author has decided to create Bloop the Fish 2. Of course, Mr/Ms. Anonymous sent the file with his/her full name (recognizable to Dinkers) in the dmod.diz... but out of my kindness, I replaced it with 'Anony Mouse', because the name of the game is Bloop the Fish 2, and what is more fishy than a mouse?

Updated D-Mod: Bane of the Magi v1.00

I've updated reDink to v0.02. New additions include 3 bug fixes, 14 new DinkC commands, and an easy way for a D-Mod author to distribute reDink with their D-Mod.

Check the Comments for a full explanation of all additions.

New D-Mod: Kill the Hippies...Again
Posted by Tal on Saturday September 6th, at 06:13 PM
joshriot, the illustrious, innovative wunderkind from the bowels of a White Castle near you, has released Kill the Hippies... Again. No, he did not re-release Kill the Hippies; instead, he concocted a follow-up. I'm not entirely sure how this installment plays out - I'm not even the person who uploaded it - but I assume you kill the hippies deader 'n better.

Updated Dev File: Skeleton S v2
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday September 10th, at 05:49 PM
After rummaging around his closet, joshriot pulled out Skeleton Whatever, Skeleton S v2. As compared to Skeleton B, it includes changes in the loading of sounds, dink.ini, and utilizes my very own hard.dat rewrite.

Domain Name Promiscuity
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday September 10th, at 06:23 PM
After messing around with the Worst Registrar In The World for a few months, dinksmallwood.net has been sold to a petty domain name harvester, at least that's what I gather from WHOIS.

So now go (and link) to dinksmallwood.org for all your Dinky needs. It might take awhile for your ISP's DNS to update their records, so it may not work for you for a few days.

Awards: August DOTM Created!
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday September 10th, at 06:34 PM
The voting for the August 2003 Download of the Month will begin at midnight PST (-8 GMT). There were only a handful of releases last month: my Trees graphics pack, Simeon's Blood Scorpions, and GlennGlenn's The Attack of the Army.

Dink Chat - Saturday, September 20th
Posted by allikitten on Friday September 12th, at 06:00 PM
Since my lazy chat staff has seemingly ceased to host chats (or disappeared... I think Illusivefing died. That would be sad), I've taken it upon myself to host a universal dink chat. Read the comments for where, when, and what we'll discuss.

Tyrsis has updated As Good As Eternity, fixing several spelling errors found while beta testing Paul's Dinkspell program. Cool.

Dink Squad Resurrected
Posted by Phoenix on Tuesday September 16th, at 01:10 PM
That's right. Dink Squad is back. Reconstructed and revamped by yours truly. Check out http://www23.brinkster.com/snowcrystal/dinksquad/ to get a glimpse. For those VERY interested, this site is Open Source, so you can see the actual code behind the pages by clicking the link "See the source code!" on the bottom of the pages. Enjoy. Don't forget to send your pictures to me.

Awards: August 2003 DOTM Winner
Posted by Dukie on Thursday September 18th, at 02:41 PM
It's the Download Of The Month winner anouncement time again! You didn't have much to choose from, but nobody wanted to compete with Simeon's Blood Scorpions anyway! He won, you see. Congratulations!

There is also a patch available.

New D-mod: Bishop's Quest Part 1: Enter The Hero
Posted by Dukie on Friday September 26th, at 10:21 AM
Rejoice! A new D-Mod Author has joined the fray and his name is Hance! Hance's first D-Mod is part of a trilogy and it's pretty darn good as well! So download it now and wait in despair while Hance is working on the second part!

**Updated Note** : The old file had a faulty S5c-treas.c. You can re-download the d-mod or download a new s5c-treas.c here.

New D-Mod : Quest for Food
Posted by Kyle on Tuesday September 30th, at 08:40 AM
Glenn's at it again!

This time he brings us The Quest for Food, yet another romp.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm pleased to see he sent it to me all zipped up correctly this time, as opposed to some other people who either zip the folder, compress it with WinRar, add DinkEdit.exe, etc...
I don't have any problems with it, I just zip it again, but this might cause a delay depending on where I am (at school or at home).

Now, take a quick look at some posts on the board, review a d-mod or two, script some more on your own d-mod and don't forget to play The Quest for Food.

New D-Mod: The Green Voice in my Head - Part 1 - Hangover & Agony
Posted by redink1 on Tuesday September 30th, at 05:54 PM
Raven has released his first D-Mod, The Green Voice in my Head - Part 1 - Hangover & Agony, which follows a well-past-his-prime Dink as he wakes up in a strange realm after boozin' the night away. Oh, and he also has a weird voice in his head, the "Smashing Barrels Voice", which wants him to smash all barrels, and causes other problems too.

This is the first part of what seems to be one weird trilogy. Review it, all ye who can type legibly.

Update: v1.1 was just released, so it comes up with v1.0 in your Dink Frontend, download it again. There isn't a patch available.
