Alternative Download Ideas
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday October 1st, at 10:40 AM
Hmm... it is October. It doesn't seem like it should be October yet. Oh well.

Anyway, your insignificant slave also known as redink1 has thought of two new ways to serve D-Mods that don't involve FilePlanet. While FP has always worked good for me, it seems it hasn't always worked good for everyone else.

For more details on the plans, check the comments.

Raven has updated The Green Voice in my Head - Part 1 - Hangover & Agony to v1.2. All this new version fixes is a freeze bug when talking to the tournament paper. A Patch is also available.

New Dev Utility: DinkSaves
Posted by redink1 on Thursday October 9th, at 09:36 PM
I, Dan Walma, have released a program for D-Mod authors called DinkSaves. It reads in a save game file and outputs an html document displaying nearly all of the information stored in the savegame. Hopefully you'll find it somewhat useful.

The voting for the September 2003 Download of the Month will begin at midnight PST (-8 GMT). Nary a dev nor misc files were seen last month, but we got 5 D-Mods: Bishop's Quest Part 1: Enter The Hero, Bloop the Fish 2, Kill the Hippies... Again, Quest for Food (the), and The Green Voice in my Head - Part 1 - Hangover & Agony.

Fortunately, Schwarzenegger isn't on the ballot.

Remember to vote!

Awards: Bane of the Magi Forgotten, Rediscovered
Posted by redink1 on Saturday October 11th, at 02:47 PM
Thanks to Ric for pointing out that I forgot to put Bane of the Magi into the September 2003 Download of the Month.

So, if you already voted, and want to change your vote, just go into the voting booth and vote again. Your new vote will overwrite your previous one.

New Misc File: Dink Sheet Music
Posted by redink1 on Thursday October 16th, at 06:41 PM
From the land of Wizards and Kings, ol' Merlin has released Dink Sheet Music. And what might this wandering file contain? Remixed midis from Dink and D-Mods played with a piano, with the actual sheet music so you can use your wicked finger skills to tickle rectacubic elephant tusks.

Updated D-Mod: Revenge of the Pigs v1.3
Posted by redink1 on Thursday October 16th, at 06:48 PM
Everyone's favoritefavorite D-Mod author, glennglenn, has released Revenge of the Pigs v1.3. This update includes an improved ending, some changes with the slaughter, and you can actually talk to the wizard now. It only weighs in at about 300 KB, so no patch is available.

Edit: Whoops, almost forgot, you can also grab it from The Dink Network's Yahoo! Group (Free Registration Required) in case you and Fileplanet hate each other with a passion only rivaled by a zombie.

Awards: September DOTM Results!
Posted by redink1 on Friday October 17th, at 05:36 AM
It looks like some magi have one heck of a bane, as Ric's Bane of the Magi won the September 2003 Download of the Month. Congratulations, Ric!

Trailing behind by just two votes was Raven's D-Mod, the mentally plagued The Green Voice in my Head - Part 1 - Hangover & Agony.

Thanks to everyone who entered and voted!

New Dev File : Spike Graphics
Posted by Kyle on Saturday October 18th, at 04:53 AM
Simon has released his new Spike graphics for use in any d-mod. He has this to say about it :

The Spike graphics I did for Jamie Shephard are just lying around not being used so I figure it's time to let release them into the wild. I did these a while ago, and it seems the DMOD they were made for has entered the land of "never to be finished". I did send Jamie an email 7 days ago saying if he was planning on still using them to let me know before the 16th... since I haven't heard from him... Here they are.

New Dev File: Dinksays
Posted by Dukie on Thursday October 23rd, at 10:11 AM
The highly anticipated new Redink1 production is out now! Dinksays is a quick-and-nasty command-line based DinkC editor designed for quickly writing dialogue. It's smallness is only surpassed by it's usefulness! Enjoy.

Dinker's View Four: Big Ted Revealed!
Posted by SimonK on Friday October 24th, at 12:42 PM
The Dink Interviews are Back.

Hi everyone. Well I've stepped into PureEvil's shoes as it were, and I'm continuing the Dink Interviews. My aim is to try and do one every fortnight or so (reality check means every month).

As a few of you know I've started work on a Tutorial Mod or TMOD as Binirit coined the term. And in it you will get to meet some Dinkers and talk to them. Well this is one of the conversations I was going to put in the TMOD... (and probably still will go in a shortened form) but I thought it so interesting you should all read it now.

New D-Mod: Dink Nukem - Darkland F**d Up!
Posted by redink1 on Friday October 24th, at 08:34 PM
Everyone's favorite psychotic teller of fortunes, theprophet, has released Dink Nukem - Darkland F**d Up!, where Dink Nukem (whom I'm guessing is a younger and less attractive brother of Duke Nukem) must save a girl. The stuff of legends, I tell ye. I mean, you can never save a girl in video games enough, be it in Super Mario Bros., or ... other games of girl-saving wonderment.

And if you have a weird suspicion that the people at FilePlanet enjoy spitting in your D-Mods, you can also grab it from The Dink Network's Yahoo! Group (Free Registration Required).

New D-Mod: Dukie's Shooting Gallery
Posted by redink1 on Saturday October 25th, at 03:45 PM
The Duke Nukemness continues, with the release of my Dukie's Shooting Gallery. Its just a short shoot-em-up game, sort of like FIAT's Exterminator, where you play Dukie shooting various monsters. I originally made it for Dink City 2000 a couple years ago, and yesterday's release of Dink Nukem influenced me to release it.

Edit: v1.2 has now been released, fixing a bug with Round 2 not allowing Dukie to shoot anything and it crashing on v1.07 and newer versions of Dink.

As is usual for recent D-Mod releases, you can also grab it from The Dink Network's Yahoo! Group (Free Registration Required) instead of FilePlanet.

New D-Mod: North
Posted by redink1 on Saturday October 25th, at 04:32 PM
WarPlague has released his first D-Mod, North. Those pesky Goblins are attacking the land, controlled by the most vile Creature to roam the earth, SabreTrout. Oh... you're telling me there is a Creature more vile than SabreTrout? Sounds like a very vile voracious Creature indeed, then. Oh, and of course, Dink must stop the Goblins and their evil master before it is too late.

Remember, you can grab it from The Dink Network's Yahoo! Group (Free Registration Required) if FilePlanet decides to launch error messages your way instead of download goodness.

Recondite Twenty-Three: Recidivism
Posted by redink1 on Saturday October 25th, at 08:12 PM
Recondite is my article, and is put up whenever el red de ink of one has an urge to gruesomely assault a keyboard with his tapping fingers. It is usually a whole lot of crazy rants, stories, poll comments, frequently asked questions, and links.

This week I delve into a whole lot of poll comments, one less dink couple, staff changes, and more! So read it, if you wish.

New D-Mod: Cloud Castle 2 : Scarab Demo
Posted by redink1 on Monday October 27th, at 10:50 AM
Everyone's favorite weapon made out of fish, SabreTrout, and his brother Arik have released a demo to Cloud Castle 2 : Scarab. It starts right from the end of Cloud Castle, and Dink has to escape from a desert prison. Sounds like fun.

Edit: The demo has been updated to v1.1, which fixes a few issues. A patch is also available for those who have already downloaded it.

Dinker's View Six - Nexis: the Maestro of Dink
Posted by SimonK on Wednesday October 29th, at 03:19 PM
Okay, it's early, but since I managed to track this Dinker down (with a lot of help, thanks Dan) I realised there is no need to keep to some release schedule. So if you still up for an interview head over the the comments and find out about Nexis, the man behind POTA, WinDinkEdit, and Ultimate Cheat is doing these days.

New D-Mod: Anarchy Halloween Party
Posted by redink1 on Friday October 31st, at 10:20 AM
joshriot bit the bullet and consumed massive amounts of apple cider in order to create Anarchy Halloween Party in a span of two days. In it, Dink walks around and finds a house and scares people and such.
