Monthly Happenings: DOTM strikeCancelled/strike Delayed
Posted by redink1 on Friday November 1st, at 01:12 PM
Well, because Pilgrim's Quest is so great, I've decided to cancel the DOTM voting and award the October DOTM to PQ. Congrats Simon! I've always been bothered with how a file could be released on the last day of a month, and then have the voting the very next day... it just doesn't give people enough time to play/use it before they decide to vote. And it finally happened this month, in a big way. So starting with the October 2002 Download of the Month, voting will start on the 7th and end the 14th. This will probably be the same for all months in the future as well.

New Neglected D-Mod: A Perilous Journey
Posted by WC on Friday November 1st, at 11:03 PM
James Perley has just released a d-mod which will blow Pilgrims Quest stright out of the water called A Perilous Journey. "It can't be finished and there isn't really much to do. There is a short intro and a few things to do, but no fighting and map isn't completed."

New D-Mod: The Fairy Named Bincabbi
Posted by redink1 on Monday November 4th, at 10:06 PM
scratcher has released a new romp titled The Fairy Named Bincabbi. He says:
The Dmod's rather small, and it takes 30 minutes to accomplish at most. There shouldn't be ANY serious bugs, (although I haven't had it beta-tested) or bugs at all, but if you find any, I'd really appreciate if you'd drop me an email. Thanks.

Site News: The Dink Network Store Opens
Posted by redink1 on Monday November 4th, at 10:47 PM
The Dink Network Store is now online, and ready for you to start buying things. There are a large selection of items, ranging from Stickers to T-Shirts to Teddy Bears.

This is the first iteration of the store, so there is only one basic logo (which is based on the next web design). In the future I hope to expand the store so it has multiple logos to choose from, at the very least headless ducks.

All profits will go towards a community fund, which will be used to pay for services which will benefit the community in some way. Possibilities include a file server (the current goal), contest prizes, and so on.

For more information about the current goals, funds, etc. click here.

New Article : DinkC Tutorials : Lesson 1
Posted by Kyle on Tuesday November 5th, at 02:32 PM
I thought it was a good idea to create a series of tutorials to assist people in learning DinkC, so I took it upon me to do so. Redink1 thought about doing it too some time ago but never got around to it.

I know that there are already some tutorials that cover this subject, but from here on I will expand throughout the coming weeks. I don't know if this will be a weekly article, because I have to be in the right mood to write a tutorial. It may take only a day or maybe a little longer than a week, who knows.

For those of you who wanted to learn the language this will be a great opportunity and for those who already know it, well, they can refresh their knowledge. The tutorial is in the comments, so what are you waiting for?

Link News
Posted by Kyle on Wednesday November 27th, at 05:15 AM
I was thinking the other day that pages of people whose link has changed are likely to be viewed a lot less than normal. That's why, if you want to report an address change, put it on the board and I'll post it. In case I miss it, just send me an e-mail. This counts for people who want to open up a new webpage as well.

New :

My Appologies
Posted by PureEvil on Thursday November 28th, at 10:16 AM
For those who actually care (can't be many ), I appologize for the delay in posting the next interview. Between some serious school projects and a very ill girlfriend, my time has really been compromised. Look for the next installment soon. I hope to have my Q&A with Gary Hertel within a few days. For those of you in the US, Happy Thanksgiving.
