Monthly Update: September DOTM Up
Posted by redink1 on Tuesday October 1st, at 12:47 PM
The September 2002 Download of the Month is now eagerly awaiting your vote. Not too many files this month... as may you remember, those entries in the Alternative Hero D-Mod Contest were exempt from the DOTM.

Updated D-Mod: Lyna's Story v1.1
Posted by redink1 on Tuesday October 1st, at 07:17 PM
Paul Pliska has updated Lyna's Story with the following changes:
I fixed a number of minor bugs, and added a few better clues and nicer icons. It's probably only worth downloading if you haven't played Lyna's Story yet, or if you planed to play it again anyway.

Updated D-Mod: Phantasmagoria 3.0
Posted by redink1 on Saturday October 5th, at 10:04 PM
Roger Maynard/LiveCopper/Satanic Ewok has released Phantasmagoria v3.0. It is a plot-less D-Mod, where the objective is to level up, explore, and buy new stuff. Also of note, enemies level-up with you, becoming harder as you get stronger. And for every enemy you kill, you get an Enemy Point, with which you can spend.

Recondite Sixteen: Bittersweet
Posted by redink1 on Sunday October 6th, at 01:35 AM
Recondite is my article, and is supposed to be weekly (though it is never released on a schedule) and is usually a whole lot of crazy rants, stories, poll comments, and links.

Server Trouble: File Planet is dead
Posted by WC on Sunday October 6th, at 02:04 PM
File Planet (Our main file server) is trashed, so The WCNET is the lone file server. I upped the download slots to 99 so everyone can get on, but expect slow speeds, sorry. We will let you know once the problem has been resolved.

Update: It's up, but for how long..

Staff Birthday: Happy Birthday Tal
Posted by WC on Friday October 11th, at 09:24 PM
As most of you know Tal totally screwed me on my birthday, so I would just like to tell everyone it is his birthday. Now, lets start a fund and buy him a stripper because, well, lets face it, it's the only way...

If only Sharp didn't get to it before me...I hate work.

New D-Mod: The Pirates of Portown
Posted by redink1 on Sunday October 20th, at 09:26 PM
dinkmega has released The Pirates of Portown, his first D-Mod. In it, the pirates are attacking Portown, and Dink is the only one who can stop them.

Ask Tal: Whether you like it or not...
Posted by Tal on Sunday October 20th, at 11:58 PM
As much as I hate to say this, and as much as I hate to be master of the obvious, I have decided to end Ask Tal. I know I'm "smashing the hopes and dreams" of all my "loyal fans" when I say this, but unfortunately, a number of factors have convinced me to call off AT. (This is the part where you read the comments for the rest of my junk.)

New Feature: Author Interviews
Posted by PureEvil on Tuesday October 22nd, at 02:01 PM
What seems like ages ago, The Dink Smallwood community had many active and regularly updating web sites. I believe it was JVeenhofs site that had a number of well done interviews, as well as other various features. My aim is to bring interviews back to the community in the form of a twice-monthly feature or article. To read on, check out the comments.

Posted by redink1 on Sunday October 27th, at 08:29 AM
Binirit has released an update to his newbie-scripting tutorial The Rudiments of Scripting. This version consists of a general update on the document, scripts, and annotations, and includes an all-new Tutorial-Mod.

New Unfinished D-Mod: Darkspace Derelict
Posted by redink1 on Sunday October 27th, at 12:23 PM
Eldron has released Darkspace Derelict, a work-in-progress version of Darkspace, which he has stopped working on.

As a D-Mod, there isn't much to do... there are only two screens, and there is nothing to interact with. It does include some 3d models and wav music, though, so it will probably interest a few D-Mod authors.

New Cheat: Dink Smallwood Savegame Editor
Posted by Tal on Sunday October 27th, at 11:23 PM
FooSoft has released a Dink Smallwood Savegame Editor. Wouldn't you know it, it edits Dink's stats in a savegame, such as experience, level, gold, etc. It's pretty small, too: 21.7 kilobytes.

New Neglected D-mod: Fighterz!
Posted by WC on Wednesday October 30th, at 03:18 PM
SabreTrout has just released his neglected d-mod for all of you to laugh at called Fighterz Beta.

Here is the description: "I started this ages ago, and was going to make it a team based simple fighting d-mod, but decided the whole idea was worthless. It's not finished really, but I thought somebody might find something useful. It does have scripts for starting as 3 different alternative heroes. And maybe somebody will find it fu..."

P.S. Thanks to SabreTrout for sending me this instead to RedMan.

New Epic D-mod : Pilgrim's Quest
Posted by Kyle on Thursday October 31st, at 07:31 AM
SimonK has finally released his newest d-mod Pilgrim's Quest! I suggest that those who are still on dial-up and do not yet have a download manager get one now, because this beast is 37MB big.

This comes straight from the d-mod.diz :

Dink's holidays are interrupted when he comes across the remains of a brutal raiding party. He agrees to help the sole surviving woman complete her journey to the Monastery.

As a last note SimonK had this to add for everyone : "Happy Halloween!"

Happy Halloween everyone. I know most of you are now way too busy playing PQ to read this (or should be), but I thought we needed a Halloween edition.
