Its DOTM Time!!
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday January 2nd, at 06:37 PM
After disappearing for a while due to switching systems, everyone can now vote for the December and November Download of the Month. Because in the past some people have complained (rightly so) that DOTMs should only include one month at a time, you can now vote for the December and November awards seperately. December has quite a few items to choose from, while November doesn't have hardly any.

Also, because the new system is currently being worked on, there isn't a way to easily view the votes.

A small side note... some of you may remember that I promised EOTv2.0 was going to be released 1/1/2002. Well, it didn't happen. It will be released this month though.

New Development Utility: FFCreate 2
Posted by redink1 on Tuesday January 8th, at 08:33 PM
On the day of FIAT's released, I found that Seth's original FFCreate program was severely flawed. Whereas it was common knowledge that ffcreate.exe would include itself in its own dir.ff files, when I tried to use it it would include the dir.ff file it was creating in the dir.ff file it was creating, resulting in an ever-expanding file that threatened to fill up my hard drive. So I found the source code to another version of FFCreate on the internet, and modified it so it only includes bmp files. And so FFCreate 2 was created. Thanks to WC for compiling it.

With this, hitting the letter X prompts you to choose what music to listen to while playing Dink or most D-Mods. Cool.

  • All - Version is now displayed on title screen for a second or so.
  • Odvi - The Dance Master might not crash as often.
  • All - Before, it was impossible to unlock one of the secret mini-games, this has been fixed. Thanks PureEvil.

Posted by redink1 on Wednesday January 9th, at 12:52 PM

Posted by redink1 on Thursday January 10th, at 05:06 PM

Updated D-Mod: End of Time v2.01
Posted by redink1 on Friday January 11th, at 05:23 PM
Yesterday's release of End of Time had a small problem with compiled scripts (causing the apple tree to not say anything, and preventing anyone from getting very far in the game). All of the fixes include:
  • Windemere - Apple tree now talks, problem with compiled scripts, some other compiled script problems fixed as well.
  • Intro - No longer flashes loading screen when starting for the first time.
  • West of Windemere - Bomb guy no longer freezes when give him an invisible apple.
This update is available in both a full-version and a patch. There shouldn't be any other bugs.

Updated D-Mod: Legend of the Duck v2.00
Posted by redink1 on Thursday January 31st, at 08:28 PM
Ted Shutes sent Christopher McNeely the fixes to a ton of bugs he found in the original Legend of the Duck. And so, Legend of the Duck v2.00 was born. From the readme,
The Ted Shutes version of this game has been largely modified by... Ted Shutes. He took the game and, with my permission, modified it to fix the VERY LONG list of bugs he found. This is a better version of the game. Period. However you might be wondering what bugs we're talking about. I only received a total of two bug reports on LOD and they were given to me a long time after I'd released it. I never had half the problems he listed, and Kyle - the first beta tester - didn't either. However if you haven't finished LOD because you ran into problems or thought the game was dumb... You might try it now because it is much better.
