I must say I recently tried IE 8 and I was pleasantly surprised. I think it's really a lot better than IE 7. The main reasons I use FireFox are that I'm more used to it and that the plug-ins I use are quite convenient as well...
And then there's always active X, which works on IE and not on FireFox (not by default anyway). I hate to use it, but some sites require it
