Not sure, but it's there. Remove the registry key and DFArc2 will say "no correct registry key found, trying to use outdated INI". Personally I think keeping to make use of the INI would have been better, with some small changes it could make Dink an easier program to take with you on a memory stick and play anywhere.
blackguard: there are no conflicting ini's since Dink 1.08 still prefers to use the registry first... and the INI changes to the directory of the last Dink you started anyway.
