Kingdom Hearts II had cutscenes as long as in almost any Final Fantasy game: almost never longer than ~7 minutes, but with a bigass ending of almost 30 minutes.
Personally, I don't like long cutscenes. They make you wait way too much, it's a game, not a movie. (Well, basically I see good games as interactive movies, but not being able to play enough and always having to sit down and wait is... meh. Go rent a movie.)
I think that some games that don't start with a long cutscene can rock, too. I mean, Dink Smallwood does it perfectly fine: it lets you actually play through the "prologue"!
