I think you are confusing complex with absurd and convoluted. There is a distinct difference.
Absurd? Well, last time I checked it was set in a fantasy realm. And convoluted? I guess you're a fan of "I figured out the plot in 5 minutes" movies.
At Tal: There is no 50 minute cutscene in Xenosaga. The max length is 24 minutes, which only occurs once. And it really does have a great story worth spending cutscene time on. I agree that RPGs with bad stories shouldn't have too many cutscenes at all.
And I can be defensive if I want to be defensive. I don't care whether you care. If people aren't interested in what I have to say they can just choose not to read it. It's about a game, yes, but last time I checked most of this forum's posts are about a game too. I guess nobody should care about that either eh?
