Not so sure if that holds true for soups, but it definitely does for dmods. Where dmods that concentrate on one thing tend to get boring, those with occassional puzzles, adventuring, and cool fights are more fun.
Though personally, I'd like to see a dmod with a really good story. Most dmods lack a good story, hell, many don't even have one at all.
